Fan Question of the Week:

Leah,

I have been racing a pro mod and a outlaw 10.5 car for the past 3 years. I am trying to get a T/F team started now and I know you drove pro mod's for a while. I was wondering what was the biggest difference going from a pro mod car to a T/F dragster other than the speed difference? Also congrats on your performance in Topeka! I am looking forward to seeing you with your first T/F win soon!!

Cleo,

Thanks so much for writing in!

The biggest difference between the pro mods and top fuel is undoubtebly the speed and acceleration of the car. The pro mods are a handful no doubt, as they can get ugly and squirly very quick and early. However dragsters do not trypically get squirly, therefore make it a little easier to drive as there is so much momentum moving forward. The difficult part is identifying when the car drops a cylinder and deciding whether to stay in the throttle or lift and hopefully save parts. The smoking of the tires has a much different feel than that of the pro mod as well, as you lose so much acceleration so fast.

I truly do believe that driving the pro mods has prepared me for Top Fuel, and hopefully they will for you as well. I wish you the best of luck and hope to see you at the track.

Best,

Leah
